  • Get a good night’s rest before the interview and don’t be nervous. Our recruitment teams aim is to make you feel comfortable.
  • Research Cornmarket and have a good understanding of what we do to make sure that this company is the right fit for you. This is a two-way process.
  • We use a competency-based interview technique which is also known as behavioural interviewing.
  • If the interview is remote – test your technology prior to the meeting to ensure everything is in check.
  • If you’re coming to the office to meet with our team, make sure to map out your route and get there on time.
  • Be fully prepared to answer detailed questions on all areas of your CV.
  • Carefully read the job description attached to the role applied for and think about how your previous experience and skills aligns.
  • Review the competencies on the job description. Do some preparation online by finding lists of common interview questions asked around these competencies.
  • Don’t be afraid to pull your answers from your work background, sporting history or academic experience. All examples are relevant.
  • Use the STAR technique to structure your answers to the competency focused questions. STAR is an acronym for describing the Situation at hand, the Task carried out, the Actions taken and finally the Result of the situation. Using this technique will help you prepare clear and concise answers.
  • Stay focused on answering the question being asked and keep your answers concise.
  • Don’t stress if you have not prepared for a question asked. Its ok to take a moment to yourself, to have a think about your answer and come up with an example.
  • Ask questions at the end of your interview should you have any in relation to the role that you are applying for.
