What do you enjoy about working in Cornmarket?
There is a great emphasis on teamwork here that I hadn’t found working in any of my previous roles. I work as part of the Premium Processing team within the Finance department and a large part of my role is working to strict deadlines each month end. It’s very structured and process driven, and I really enjoy these aspects of it. It requires a high degree of organisation.
What does your typical day look like?
Unlike a lot of departments, we work towards a monthly deadline as opposed to a daily schedule, so every day is different, but you can usually find me running reports, reconciling premiums, processing refunds and liaising with other departments or payrolls to ensure client transactions are processed in a timely manner.
What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead in Cornmarket?
In the last two years I’ve completed my QFA training and will be starting to study for the Irish Tax Technician course in the next couple of weeks, which is generously paid for by Cornmarket. It’s great to work in an environment where continuous learning and upskilling is supported and encouraged. There are always great opportunities to work on different projects and to expand my knowledge, 2022 is really looking to be an interesting year. I was also given the opportunity to volunteer to support the company’s charity of choice last year and I hope to again get a chance to do this next year.
